DESCRIPTION

American composer Samuel Barber wrote his work The School for Scandal according to the comedy written by the Irish author Richard Sheridan in 1777, intending to reflect the spirit of the play. Jan Lehtola is the soloist in the premiére of the Organ Concerto by Harri Ahmas, a composer from Lahti. The Shakespeare theme of the season is represented in the concert – conducted by Petri Komulainen – by Bernstein’s music from the West Side Story which adapts the story of Romeo and Juliet.
