For its 60th anniversary concert the Lahti Symphony Orchestra has chosen the melancholy opera Duke Bluebeard’s Castle by Béla Bartók. Now to be heard for the first time in Lahti, it will be conducted by Jukka-Pekka Saraste and the soloists will be Iris Vermillion and András Palerdi (Note! the soloist has been changed). It will be preceded by Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, the first of the last three symphonies he composed at great speed in 1788.
