Opera, plays, dance and theatre for the young – Theater Bremen offers performances of the highest standards in all four categories. Under its new management of August 2007, Theater Bremen now focuses on internationality, diversity and breaking new ground. This latter aspect is represented by the numerous new collaborations with different partners and the opening of four permanent stages to the public. In addition, the establishment of an art gallery in the original main building of the theatre bears evidence of this new tenor.
Hans-Joachim Frey is the new General Director of the theatre starting in the beginning of the 2007/2008 season. Frey, who studied singing and directing, has already made his mark as an opera director at the Semper Opera in Dresden and is now introducing a new kind of cooperation between the theatre and the city of Bremen. The “International Culture Forum” functions as a platform for establishing and deepening ties between culture and science – with the goal of creating a network that serves both sides.
In addition, there are exciting collaborations with the second Bremen orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Musikfest Bremen, the Bremen Musical Theatre, as well as experimental theatre at new locations which exist next to the stages Theater am Goetheplatz, Neues Schauspielhaus, Brauhauskeller and studio-stage Moks.
There is nothing left to say, but: The Theater Bremen - always worth seeing.
